Photo Tips

The better the photo, the better the crystal. Here's how to choose a photo that engraves beautifully.

What works best

  • Sharp and in focus. Blurry photos stay blurry in crystal.
  • Good, even lighting. Natural daylight is ideal. Avoid harsh shadows or very dark photos.
  • Faces clearly visible. Faces should be fairly large in the frame and looking toward the camera.
  • Full resolution. Upload the original file rather than a screenshot or a photo saved from social media.
  • Uncropped subject. Make sure heads, ears and paws aren't cut off at the edges.

Phone photos

Most modern phone photos work great. Upload the original from your camera roll for the best quality.

Backgrounds, multiple photos and text

  • Background removal: The 3D effect of the inner engraving works best when the photo background is removed. We provide this part of the process for free.
  • Combining people or pets from different photos: Contact us if you would like us to edit photos and combine images for you before you purchase. There is a $20 design fee for this service.
  • Adding names, dates or a short message: Yes, for only $9.99 you can add a name, date, or short message to your crystal. We generally limit this to 50 characters, but we can work with you to ensure your crystal is perfect.
